This guided tour combines a visit to the special exhibition "Horizontal. Politics and Poetics from the Sickbed" and the permanent exhibition "Tracing life".

In the permanent exhibition, we take you on a journey through 300 years of medical history, where you’ll learn not only about the milestones of medical history, famous figures, and individual patient stories, but also about the missteps and dark sides of medicine.

The special exhibition “Horizontal. Politics and Poetics from the Sickbed” places the horizontal body at its centre. Together, we explore how lying down shapes perception, bodily experience, and social relationships—and why the hospital bed is far more than a place of medical treatment. Through historical objects, contemporary artworks, and personal stories, you will discover how ideas of illness, care, and healing have changed over time, and why lying down is anything but a passive state.

Please note the terms and conditions and our house rules before your visit.
